Teachers and staff at the once prestigious Green Chimneys School in Brewster, NY are now being accused of child abuse, including child sex abuse, spanning over the course of decades.
Green Chimneys School describes itself as a school designed for students who have been unsuccessful in a traditional educational program and benefit from a small, structured, and therapeutically supportive setting. It is not uncommon for children that have special needs and are easily manipulated to be abused. Green Chimney School in Brewster, NY was a residential school for children that the NY Public School System could not handle.
The Headmaster was Samuel B. Ross Jr., he and his family ran the school. The residential area consisted of a home for females that was supervised by House Parents ROBERT and DOROTHY DOIG from the mid-1960s to mid-1970s. The male residence was supervised by House Parents Mr. and Mrs. FLYNN during this time.
Multiple students reported to Headmaster Ross that they were victims of sexual abuse by FLYNN and DOIG but he did not remove them from the school. ROBERT DOIG allegedly sexually abused at least 4 female students during this time frame and threatened to kill the girls if they reported him. (He threatened them after learning of the allegations against him.) Mr. FLYNN allegedly sexually abused at least one male student.
Green Chimneys has been called an abuse mill by former students, who now use social media such as Facebook and Twitter to talk about the alleged abuse during their time spent in the school.
Social media also has some survivor groups where adult victims of childhood abuse talk about how Kids were allegedly beaten, slapped, kicked, punched, had their hair pulled, and were physically, verbally, and sexually abused. Dr. Samuel B. Ross Jr., one of the founders of the school, is referred to as a sadistic fraud who hired people who have questionable backgrounds. The people hired to teach are accused of not having actual certification to be teachers.
