ALL CALLS ARE STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL

Rev. Alan Jupin, former priest, added to list of over 50 credibly accused priests who sexually abused children

On Tuesday Rev. Alan Jupin, a former priest at Our Lady of Fatima, was added to a list of over 50 priests and clergy “credibly accused” of sexually abusing children. Jupin was added by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany.

Jupin, who is now deceased, is accused of molesting five children in Albany and Schenectady spanning from the 1970s -1990s.

Last year, the review board hired an investigator amidst allegations of sexual abuse of children by over 50 priests and clergy spanning decades, and Jupin was added to the list after a new allegation was brought up against him. Jupin had been placed on administrative leave both in 2003 and 2011 because of allegations of him sexually abusing children. However, the review board found those accusations to have “no reasonable cause for action” at the time.

Jupin’s name was added to the list after the 2019 investigation, according to a release from the Albany Diocese, however, the bishop is responsible for any action against priests.

In August, a lawsuit was filed under New York’s landmark Child Victims Act, claiming a victim (who remained anonymous) was abused by Jupin when he was 12 years old in 1988 and 1989, when the priest was serving as a pastor at Our Lady of Mercy in Colonie.

Prior accusations against Jupin have had similar stories of similarly portrayed him as a priest who would throw parties at his home for young boys, where he would serve them alcohol and then molest them.
