Edward Gonzales, a foster parent in Belen, has been accused of sexually abusing a boy over a 3 year period, starting from 2017. The alleged victim, now age16, is accusing Gonzales, age 37, of raping him for over 3 years beginning when he was 13-years-old.
The alleged victim lived with Gonzales in a Belen home on Highway 147 until this year. The boy was moved from the home and adopted by a different family, at which point he felt comfortable to come forward with the allegations against Gonzales .
The 16 year old victim told police that there were other children in the foster home and there were times when he heard sounds in a bathroom that seemed like Gonzales was sexually abusing another boy.
The investigation into systemic child sex abuse in foster homes is ongoing.
