Dolezal Family Member Faces Allegations of Sexual Abuse

The spotlight on former Spokane NAACP president, Rachel Dolezal, has moved to her biological brother, author Joshua Dolezal, as allegations of sexual abuse are revealed, reports The Washington Post.

According to the affidavit filed, the alleged incidents of sexual assault occurred at Joshua Dolezal’s family’s home in Colorado in 2001 or 2002. During this time, the victim was 6 or 7 and Dolezal was 19 years old.

The victim decided to come forward about the sexual abuse because Dolezal has a one year old daughter, and the victim says she would not “want the daughter to be victimized.”

According to the parents of Rachel and Joshua Dolezal, Rachel allegedly orchestrated the sexual abuse encounters in order to win custody of her brother, Izaiah, whom she currently claims is her son, the family says.

Joshua Dolezal is an English professor at Central College and faces trial in August.

Victims of sexual abuse don’t always speak out about the incident right when it occurs.  It is important to educate our children on what sexual abuse is and how imminent it is to report the abuse as quickly as possible.
