Trial of former Danbury Priest accused of sexually assaulting two young boys on hold due to COVID-19

Jaime Marin-Cardona, 51, is a former priest accused of sexually assaulting at least two young boys in 2014 when he was a priest at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Golden Hill Road. He is originally from Colombia.

 

His Pre trial was scheduled for April 24 but due to COVID-19 it has been rescheduled to June 19. According to records, Jaime Marin-Cardona is charged with three counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, three counts of risk of injury to child and three counts of illegal sexual contact. He pleaded not guilty to all nine charges.

On Dec. 11, after the Diocese of Bridgeport’s Sexual Misconduct Review Board learned that the state Department of Children and Families had substantiated allegations of sexual  abuse against the young boys, Marin-Cardona was placed on administrative leave.

According to Bishop Frank J. Caggiano of the Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport, the priests most recent parish was Saint Mary Parish in Bridgeport.
After the allegations surfaced, Jaime Marin-Cardona was released on $500,000 bond, with conditions of his release that include wearing a tracking device and comply with protective orders.
