One of the benefits of having a civil lawyer in a sex abuse case is that when there is a criminal case is going on when the child is being deposed by the criminal defense attorney for the perpetrator is that the family doesn’t have the right to be in the room with their child. And the prosecutor who is in the room with the child is not representing the child because the child is the victim and is a witness in the case. The prosecutor represents the state in the criminal case. And so, as the civil lawyer I go into the deposition with my client who’s a child and I go in to protect their rights.
