Angel Ramos, a 23-year-old former employee at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church in East Elmhurst, Queens, has been arrested and charged with repeatedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl. According to the Queens District Attorney’s Office, Ramos faces multiple charges, including four counts of second-degree rape, aggravated sexual abuse, forcible touching, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Authorities report the abuse took place within church grounds at 25-02 80th Street, where Ramos worked part-time for nearly two years, assisting in the rectory and coordinating the altar server program. The victim disclosed to authorities that the abuse began in February 2025 when Ramos allegedly kissed, groped, and forcibly assaulted her. Prosecutors noted additional incidents on March 27 and April 16, during which Ramos is accused of further escalating the assault, resulting in physical injury to the victim. Another non-consensual encounter allegedly occurred on April 19.
After learning of the alleged abuse, the victim’s parents reported it to the church’s pastor on April 21. According to Diocese of Brooklyn spokesperson John Quaglione, the matter was promptly referred to law enforcement. Ramos was immediately suspended without pay and barred from all parish property.
Ramos was arrested by the NYPD’s Special Victims Squad on May 2, 2025, and was released two days later after posting a $50,000 bail. He is scheduled to return to Queens Criminal Court on July 24.
As investigators continue their case, the NYPD urges other potential victims or anyone with relevant information to come forward.
