Father Walter E. Casey was a priest of the Archdiocese of Boston whose ministry spanned nearly five decades and included both parish assignments and military service. He served in assistant roles at parishes in the Massachusetts towns of Marshfield, Brockton, Lexington, Abington, and Medford before becoming a United States Army chaplain from 1955 to 1975, with postings in Germany, Japan, Vietnam, and Alaska.
Upon returning to the Archdiocese in 1975, Father Walter E. Casey was assigned to a parish in Bridgewater. He then served as pastor of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Chelsea from December 1976 to October 1987, followed by pastor of Infant Jesus Parish in Brookline until his retirement in February 1996. He retired to his home in Marshfield and later resided at St. Joseph Manor in Brockton until his death on February 21, 2008.
On May 7, 2019, Father Walter E. Casey was publicly named as a priest against whom allegations of sexual abuse had been made. Father Walter E. Casey died more than a decade before his name was made public, and he was never included on early Archdiocese lists of accused clergy.
