1 800 686 9921Father Robert W. Kirchmeyer was a priest of the Archdiocese of Boston, ordained in 1952. His personnel file was released in January 2004. At the time, a church spokesman stated that Kirchmeyer and two other priests were permitted to remain in ministry because the sexual abuse allegations against them were either anonymous or withdrawn. Shortly thereafter, Father Kirchmeyer retired and was granted senior priest/retired status as of February 27, 2004.
He is included on the Archdiocese of Boston’s officially published list of accused clergy, which was posted in August 2011. He died on February 26, 2008, in Florida.
The specific details of the allegations in his file have not been publicly documented. His inclusion on the archdiocese’s 2011 list reflects that the allegations were not determined to be unfounded, though the basis for their prior non-investigation — that they were anonymous or withdrawn — means the public record in his case is limited.
