1 800 686 9921Father Robert F. Daly was assigned to multiple parishes within the Archdiocese of Boston, including St. Anne’s in Readville, St. Jerome’s in North Weymouth, and St. Patrick’s in Brockton, among others. Allegations emerged that Daly had sexually abused minors during the 1970s and early 1980s, spanning several of the locations where he served. In January 2005, Daly was named in a civil lawsuit alongside 16 other priests, lay archdiocesan employees, and high-ranking church officials, filed by 25 individuals alleging sexual abuse of minors. Daly has not had faculties to minister publicly since 1984, when he began a leave of absence from the Archdiocese. At the time of his laicization in 2011, Daly was employed as a school psychologist at Silver Lake Regional High School in Kingston, Massachusetts — a position he had held since 2001.

Survivors who experienced sexual abuse by Father Robert F. Daly may have the ability to pursue civil remedies against the Archdiocese of Boston and related institutions. An attorney can evaluate the specific facts of your experience to help determine what options may be available. Civil claims may allow survivors to hold institutions accountable for failures to supervise clergy, implement safeguarding measures, or respond appropriately to early reports of misconduct.
In Massachusetts, the statute of limitations for childhood sexual abuse claims has been extended over time, and depending on the specific facts and timeline of your experience, you may still have options available. Consulting with an attorney is the most reliable way to understand whether a claim may be viable in your circumstances.
Civil action may provide access to financial compensation for therapy, counseling, and other support essential to recovery. Beyond financial remedies, litigation can also compel the disclosure of internal communications, personnel files, and archival documents — offering survivors greater insight into how institutions managed or responded to abuse allegations.
Civil proceedings have also contributed to broader institutional reform, pressing religious organizations to strengthen their oversight and prevention practices. Pursuing legal accountability affirms survivors’ experiences, provides an opportunity for their voice to be heard, and offers a framework for healing — while promoting the institutional responsibility necessary to protect future generations.
