Father Manuel Andrade Jr. was born in 1926 and ordained as a priest in the Diocese of Fall River in 1949. Over the course of his ministry, he served at numerous parishes across southeastern Massachusetts, including St. Anthony of Padua and Our Lady of the Angels in Fall River, Santo Cristo and St. John of God in Somerset, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Our Lady of Health, and St. John the Baptist in New Bedford, Immaculate Conception in New Bedford, Espirito Santo in Fall River, St. Michael in Fall River, and St. Anthony in Taunton.
In 2021, the Diocese of Fall River publicly named Andrade as credibly accused of sexual abuse of a minor. The designation indicates the Diocese found the allegation met its internal credibility standard. Andrade died in 1995, before any canonical process could be completed.

Survivors of sexual abuse by Father Manuel Andrade Jr. may be able to pursue civil claims against the Diocese of Fall River despite Andrade having died in 1995 and criminal prosecution no longer being possible.
