1 800 686 9921Father Lowe B. Dongor was ordained in June 2010 and served as an associate pastor in the Diocese of Worcester, Massachusetts, including at St. Joseph’s Parish in Fitchburg. In 2011, Dongor was removed from ministry after police were alerted to child pornography found on his personal laptop computer; he also admitted to stealing from parish funds. Dongor fled to the Philippines before a scheduled court appearance in October 2011, and a default warrant was issued for his arrest. In December 2012, he surrendered to federal authorities and was arraigned in Worcester Superior Court on charges of child pornography possession and larceny. He was subsequently dismissed from the priesthood by the Vatican.
While Dongor’s assignments were in the Diocese of Worcester, his case reflects broader concerns about clergy misconduct in Massachusetts Catholic dioceses and the need for accountability and support for survivors of abuse.

Individuals connected to Father Lowe B. Dongor’s conduct may have grounds to pursue civil claims against the Diocese of Worcester, including claims for negligent supervision and failure to protect those in its care. The charges against Dongor — and the circumstances under which concerns came to light in 2011 — raise questions about the Diocese’s oversight of his assignments at St. Joseph’s Parish in Fitchburg and its response once misconduct was discovered.
Massachusetts law recognizes that dioceses have a responsibility to supervise clergy in their care and to respond appropriately when misconduct comes to their attention. Civil litigation may be able to examine what the Diocese of Worcester knew about Dongor’s conduct, how quickly it acted once child pornography was discovered on his laptop, and what institutional safeguards were or were not in place during his assignments.
When a diocese fails in its obligations through negligent hiring or inadequate supervision, that failure may give rise to significant civil liability. Each survivor who comes forward helps hold institutions accountable and contributes to lasting systemic change — creating pressure on institutions to prioritize protection over reputation.
If you were harmed by Father Dognor’s conduct you may be able to pursue compensation for emotional, psychological, and spiritual injuries.
