1 800 686 9921Father Leo E. Pollard was a Jesuit priest (Society of Jesus) who ministered within the Archdiocese of Boston and taught at Boston College High School for many years, as well as at Fairfield Prep in Connecticut. He has been credibly accused of sexually abusing minors during the 1950s and again during 1966–1967. Allegations were formally raised decades after the alleged incidents occurred, and at least one civil claim was settled with the Archdiocese of Boston. In January 2019, Pollard was included on the Jesuits USA Northeast Province’s official list of clergy with credible allegations of sexual abuse of a minor.
Records reflect a significant gap between the alleged incidents and the formal reports — spanning decades — a pattern consistent with the broader institutional failures documented across Catholic clergy abuse cases. Individuals who may have been harmed by Father Pollard’s alleged conduct often face lasting emotional and psychological effects. Civil remedies may be an important step toward validation, acknowledgment, and accountability.
With decades of dedicated advocacy, we have held abusers and institutions accountable, helping survivors secure justice and the resources to move forward.
For over two decades, we have focused solely on advocating for survivors, combining legal skill with compassion to guide them toward justice and healing.
We are honored to have guided thousands of survivors through the legal process, offering support, advocacy, and the resources they need to reclaim their lives.
The circumstances surrounding Father Leo E. Pollard illustrate how delayed recognition of abuse does not foreclose survivors’ ability to pursue justice. Even when prior claims have been resolved through settlement, other individuals who were harmed may still be able to seek accountability through civil litigation, depending on the specific circumstances of their case.
Civil litigation in cases like this may examine the responsibility of the institutions overseeing Father Pollard — including the Archdiocese of Boston and the Jesuit order — in supervising clergy, responding to reports of misconduct, and taking steps to prevent further harm to children. Survivors who pursue such claims may help shed light on the systemic failures that allowed alleged abuse to persist, contributing to a broader record of institutional accountability.
Legal action may provide survivors with an enduring acknowledgment of their experiences and an opportunity to reclaim agency over their stories, even long after the abuse allegedly occurred. Settlements and court outcomes may serve as recognition of past wrongs and may help deter future institutional negligence.
