Father James A. Clark was publicly identified by the Diocese of Fall River, Massachusetts, as a credibly accused cleric in January 2021, when the diocese released its list of clergy against whom allegations of sexual abuse of a minor were found to meet the diocese’s “semblance of truth” standard under its internal review process. His inclusion was part of the diocese’s broader disclosure of historical clergy abuse allegations.

While his assignment history within the diocese is recorded, information such as the dates of the alleged abuse and the number of individuals affected was not included in the published list. Clark was laicized in 2000, a process that permanently removed him from the clerical state and prohibited him from exercising priestly ministry.
