1 800 686 9921Father Donald J. Rebokus served within the Diocese of Worcester and held leadership positions in Catholic education during his time in the priesthood. One of his most notable roles was as headmaster of Holy Name High School in Worcester, Massachusetts. In addition to his work in education, Rebokus served in several area parishes and was known in the community as a chaplain for the Massachusetts State Police.
In January 2003, a former student came forward with allegations that Rebokus sexually abused him over a period of years — beginning at Holy Name High School in the mid-1970s and continuing after Rebokus’s subsequent assignment to St. Mary’s parish in Uxbridge. According to the accuser, the misconduct began while Rebokus was serving as headmaster at Holy Name. The alleged abuse reportedly involved a pattern of wrestling, showers, and escalating sexual contact that was non-consensual and forced.
The accuser described how the abuse ultimately ended during his junior year at Holy Name, after he physically overpowered Rebokus during a wrestling encounter and told him the conduct had to stop. Rebokus died in 1983 — many years before these allegations became public. Because of his death, no criminal charges could be filed and no formal church disciplinary process could be initiated at the time the claims surfaced.
With decades of dedicated advocacy, we have held abusers and institutions accountable, helping survivors secure justice and the resources to move forward.
For over two decades, we have focused solely on advocating for survivors, combining legal skill with compassion to guide them toward justice and healing.
We are honored to have guided thousands of survivors through the legal process, offering support, advocacy, and the resources they need to reclaim their lives.
When sexual abuse allegations arise after an accused individual has died, survivors may still seek acknowledgment through civil proceedings or public reporting. These avenues may allow individuals to document what occurred and contribute to a clearer historical understanding of abuse within institutions. Even when criminal prosecution is not possible, civil law may still provide meaningful opportunities for recognition and accountability.
In situations involving schools or youth programs connected to religious organizations, questions may also arise regarding supervision, oversight, and the responsibilities of institutions entrusted with the care of minors. Survivors sometimes pursue civil claims to examine whether warning signs were overlooked or whether earlier complaints were not properly addressed.
Legal actions connected to historical abuse may also play an important role in public awareness. By bringing forward their experiences, survivors help expose patterns that might otherwise remain hidden and encourage stronger protections for future generations.
Every survivor deserves compassion and acknowledgment. This video explains how civil law empowers individuals harmed by clergy abuse to pursue accountability and closure. Justice extends beyond courtrooms; it allows survivors to reclaim their voice and aids them on their healing journey. Survivors across Massachusetts continue proving that truth carries strength and healing begins with being heard.
