1 800 686 9921Brother Thomas Harrison (also known as “Brother Bosco”) was a member of the Xaverian Brothers from 1941 until his departure from the Order in 1973. During his tenure, he held assignments at institutions including St. Patrick School in Baltimore, Maryland, and St. John’s Preparatory School in Danvers, Massachusetts. He later worked as a clinical psychologist.
In 2019, the Xaverian Brothers publicly named Harrison as accused on their official list, following an allegation reported in 2009 of sexual abuse that allegedly occurred in the late 1950s. The Archdiocese of Baltimore has also listed him as a credibly accused cleric. Harrison is deceased.
The sexual abuse allegation against Harrison underscores a pattern seen across clergy sexual abuse cases: survivors often do not come forward for decades, delayed by fear, shame, the power dynamics of religious institutions, or the suppression of memory. This delay does not diminish the validity of a survivor’s experience or necessarily foreclose their legal options.
If you or someone you know was sexually abused by Brother Thomas Harrison or another member of the Xaverian Brothers, you may have legal options. An attorney can evaluate whether a civil claim may be viable in your specific situation.

The lasting emotional and psychological effects of childhood sexual abuse can persist for decades. For survivors of clergy abuse, civil litigation may offer a meaningful path toward accountability — even when the accused individual is no longer living. Institutions that employed, supervised, or enabled accused individuals may bear legal responsibility for the harm caused.
Depending on the circumstances, Massachusetts law may allow sexual abuse survivors to pursue civil claims against institutions that failed to protect children from known risks of abuse. An attorney familiar with clergy abuse litigation can evaluate the facts of your situation, including any applicable deadlines, and advise you on whether a claim may be viable.
Civil litigation can potentially allow survivors to create an official record of what occurred, seek financial compensation for harm suffered, and hold institutions accountable for systemic failures. For many survivors, this process is also an important step toward reclaiming their voice and receiving acknowledgment of what they experienced.
