Brother Paul White was a member of the Archdiocese of Boston and part of the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers, also known as the Irish Christian Brothers. In September 2013, a settlement was reached on behalf of a woman who accused White of abusing her in the late 1960s, when she was approximately nine years old.
White was deceased at the time of the settlement, which reflects the posthumous resolution of claims that arose many decades after the alleged misconduct. The incidents reportedly involved violations of trust and exploitation of his position within the religious community. The case against White was part of a broader review of abuse claims against members of the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers, a process required under the 2013 bankruptcy settlement of the order, which aimed to address historical misconduct and provide restitution to survivors.
