Accused Priest’s Deposition to Be Released For the First Time

A news conference to announce the filing of three new child sex abuse lawsuits against the Archdiocese of Miami and the release of the accused priest’s deposition, taken earlier this year in two other lawsuits against the Archdiocese.

TODAY, AUGUST 17 at 1P.M., Law Offices of Herman, Mermelstein & Horowitz, P.A., 18205 Biscayne Blvd., Suite 2218, Miami (building entrance around the corner from Starbucks, elevator to second floor)

JEFF HERMAN, a nationally recognized advocate for survivors of childhood sexual abuse, announces the filing of three new lawsuits brought by men who claim they were sexually abused as children at BOYSTOWN, a residential facility for boys run by the ARCHDIOCESE OF MIAMI.

According to the lawsuits, the men were each abused by FR. NEIL FLEMMING, a priest of the ARCHDIOCESE, during the 1960s. As a priest, FLEMMING provided services to BOYSTOWN, even serving as its Director, during that time period. The lawsuits allege that FLEMMING was named the Director of BOYSTOWN despite allegations that he was sexually abusing teenage boys living at BOYSTOWN.

FLEMMING has been accused in other lawsuits of sexually abusing boys he met through his work at BOYSTOWN. He was deposed in two of those cases earlier this year. His deposition transcript will be made available for the first time today.

Copies of the 3 Complaints, filed today in Miami-Dade Circuit Court, will be made available at the media event.
