Jefferson Paris school under fire as sexual abuse allegations on bus surface

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating reports that a “sexual” incident occurred on a school bus last week involving three students from a public elementary school in Marrero, according to The New Orleans Jefferson Parish Advocate.

A 13-year-old boy allegedly molested two girls, younger than 10, on the school bus.

All three children are students at Estelle Elementary School, which serves pre-K through seventh grade.

A woman identifying herself as the grandmother of one of the girls said in an interview that she had been told that her granddaughter was forced onto their knees by the older boy and asked to perform oral sex.

The woman was made aware of the bus incident by the other girl’s mother.

A statement released by Jefferson Parish Public School System says: “We took quick and decisive action including reporting the reported incident to the Jefferson parish Sheriff’s Office.  The investigation is now with the Sheriff’s Office and district officials are cooperating fully.  The bus driver in this reported incident has been removed from the route and will no longer drive for the Jefferson Parish Public School System.”

The safety and well-being of the children is of utmost importance.  All incidents should be investigated thoroughly and the responsible parties must be disciplined.
