A jury has awarded a $5.25 million verdict to a boy who alleges he was bullied and sexually abused by an older student at Downtown Miami Charter School beginning when he was just seven years old.
Jeff Herman, a nationally recognized attorney for victims of sexual abuse, represented the boy and his mother. Herman filed the lawsuit in 2012, alleging the boy was orally raped by an older boy on the way to school in a transport van in 2011 and two more times in the school restroom.
Herman stated that the multi-million dollar verdict is vindication for the young victim in this case and his mother.
