Former After-School Aide Charged with Child Molestation

Bethesda, MD – Roy A. Simmons, III, a/k/a Andy, a former Montgomery County Public Schools paraeducator was arrested this week and charged with inappropriately touching a ten year old female.

Simmons was employed with Kid Adventures, an after school program that sponsored events at Carderock Springs Elementary Schools in Potomac, MD.  During one of these events in November 2016, Simmons molested the victim while she was separated from other students.  Simmons admitted to the assault during an interview with police.

Simmons also worked part-time for the county at the same elementary school from Fall 2015 through May 2017. The investigation began in May after the victim came forward.  Simmons turned himself in on Thursday and was charged with a fourth-degree sex offense and a second-degree assault.

Detectives are urging parents to speak with their children regarding interactions they may have had with Simmons, as there may be other victims.

Schools and after-school programs are meant to be safe places for kids.
