DETAILS
A Miami-Dade county jury has awarded $3,000,000.00 to an 8 year old girl sexually abused as a preschooler at DISCOVERY DAY CARE in Miami in 2008.
Attorney JEFF HERMAN, a nationally recognized advocate for survivors of sexual abuse, represented the girl and her mother. His firm filed the lawsuit in September 2009, alleging that the the daycare director’s son sexually abused the girl on multiple occasions when he was left alone, unsupervised, with the children.
The verdict came after a week-long trial in which Herman and his partner, ADAM HOROWITZ, presented jurors with evidence that the boy admitted to sexually abusing a girl and testimony that a daycare employee fabricated documents about the incident. The jury concluded that the daycare was negligent.
This is Herman’s second multi-million dollar verdict in as many months. In November, 2011, a jury awarded his client $100,000,000.00 for abuse suffered at the hands of a Roman Catholic priest.
