Vara is a 2015 graduate of the George Washington University Law School. She previously prosecuted hundreds of cases as an Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn, New York, where she served in the specialized human trafficking unit. Prior to joining Herman Law in May 2024, she advocated on behalf of sexual abuse victims at two other New York firms and moved back to her home state of Mississippi in 2021 to fight for reproductive freedoms during the Dobbs litigation as the ACLU of Mississippi’s policy counsel. Vara also brings defense litigation experience from her time in private practice working on toxic torts. She is excited to return to New York City and continue litigating on behalf of victims.

Vara graduated with honors from Washington University in St. Louis. While at GW, she was a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association Journal, president of the Art Law and Entertainment Society, and a Dean’s Fellow for the Legal Research and Writing program.

Vara has made numerous print and media appearances in the arena of reproductive rights, including interviews with the Financial Times and local agencies. She was a featured speaker at the 2023 Mississippi Psychological Association conference. She also authored a report on the state of maternal health in Mississippi, which was cited by several outlets. Vara Is also a member of the Capital Area Bar Association.

Vara is barred in New York and Mississippi.
