As an appellate attorney, Melissa Kubiak brings years of experience researching complex legal matters and crafting compelling legal arguments to her advocacy for victims of sexual abuse.
Early in her legal career, Melissa clerked for the Honorable Michael A. Telesca, United States District Court Judge in the Western District of New York. Before joining Herman Law, Melissa represented individuals in Social Security Administration and Veterans Affairs claims, winning federal court appeals for hundreds of her clients.
Melissa earned her Juris Doctor degree from University at Buffalo School of Law, attending on an academic scholarship. During law school, she interned with New York State Appellate Division Mental Hygiene Legal Service, and Monroe County Surrogate’s Court, and served as a summer law clerk to the Honorable Marian W. Payson, United States Magistrate Judge in the Western District of New York. Melissa also provided volunteer legal services through the law school’s mediation clinic, where she traveled across Western New York to mediate civil disputes.
Throughout her career, Melissa has been an active member of her community, serving on the Board of Literacy Rochester and committees of the Genesee Country Village & Museum. She lives in Rochester, New York with her husband and two daughters.
