Jeffrey M. Herman

Jeffrey M. Herman, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Arizona in 1982. In 1985, he received his Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he was editor of the Journal of International Law and President of the International Law Society. He was admitted to the Florida State Bar that same year and was later admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals 11th Circuit and the U.S. District Court Southern District of Florida.

Mr. Herman has a reputation as a tenacious trial attorney who employs aggressive tactics on behalf of his clients. As the managing partner of Herman & Mermelstein, he has chosen to devote 100 percent of the practice to litigation. He draws on his vast experience to guide clients in complex litigation matters.

Jeffrey M. Herman is one of the most well respected child sex abuse attorneys in the country and his Miami-based firm is well known for representing victims of sexual abuse in claims against the church and educational institutions. He has also represented thousands of Native Americans who were abused at Indian Boarding Schools. In addition, Mr. Herman handles complex intellectual property, products liability, and aviation cases.

In addition to leading an active practice, Jeffrey M. Herman is director of the National Foundation for Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse. He is a member of the Dade County, Federal, and American (Member, Intellectual Property Committee; Air and Space Law Forum) Bar Associations, as well as The Florida Bar (Member, Intellectual Property Law Committee and Aviation Committee). Mr. Herman is also part of the American Intellectual Property Lawyers Association, the Patent Law Association of South Florida, and The Association of Trial Lawyers of America (Member, Child Sexual Abuse Litigation Group). From 1992 through 1996, Mr. Herman was a trustee for the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. He has also served as editor of the Journal of International Law.

Stuart S. Mermelstein

Stuart S. Mermelstein is a native of New York City. In 1981, he graduated summa cum laude from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.). Mr. Mermelstein went on to attend law school at the State University of New York at Buffalo, graduating magna cum laude in 1986.

Stuart S. Mermelstein has been admitted to the New York and U.S. District Court, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York; the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, Pennsylvania; Florida and U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida; the U.S. District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania; and the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida.

Mr. Mermelstein is a member of the Florida Bar and the American Bar Association sections on business law, intellectual property, and aviation. From 1985 to 1986, he was the executive editor of the Buffalo Law Review.

Adam D. Horowitz

Adam D. Horowitz, a native of Long Beach, New York, received his undergraduate and legal education at the University of Miami. In 1996, he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts; in 2000, he graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor.

Mr. Horowitz has been admitted to the Florida and U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida; the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida; the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit; the U.S. Tax Court; and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.

Adam D. Horowitz focuses on the areas of sexual abuse, employment litigation, commercial litigation, and education law. From 1998-2000, Mr. Horowitz was on the Moot Court Board. From 1999 through 2000, he was the articles editor for the University of Miami Law Review.
